I love hearing those stories. I am so glad you had a great granny. They really are the heart and soul of growing up if you get a good one! I would love to read more if you ever care to share any more stories. I remember some of these things myself with my grandma. Hugs to you, I know you miss her with all your heart. Your testimony to her life is better than any headstone could ever read. All we really want is to be remembered fondly by those we loved, and she accomplished that in a big way. Kitten Whiskers

Fighting dogs/brothers/my babies... Big dog owner suggestions?
by restrangled ini was out for a walk with my 2 dobies.
i always stay on my block because they are too large, too strong and have aggressive tendencies(both in different areas) they get walked in harnesses connected to each other.. they don't get walked often enough because they are powerful, frightening beasts, but after a few glasses of wine i got up my nerve and took them out yesterday.
(we have walked this route many times before with no problem).

Looks like you forgot to give them a glass of wine to unwind too! j/k Give your neighbors one, because I sure wouldn't want to be between 2 large aggressive dogs. I feel really bad for your older dobe. I personally would never keep an animal who shows an aggressive behavior like that. If I can't trust it, it doesn't deserve to be in my home. I know you love your dogs and they are your babies, but I have seen a dobe try to attack an old lady and I would have put it down. They are a huge scary beast when they are on the attack. Granted, dogs do tend to growl and defend their space, food, etc. My grandma has 2 dogs and they have a growl and bark fight now and again. I don't know what to tell you, but maybe individual walks from now on? Maybe there was a fight over marking territory as you walked them? Maybe they are like kids that way. I don't know. I don't want to hurt your feelings, but please be careful. You are very fortunate to have gotten help and no one else get hurt. I wonder if your vet could give you some advice or information. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. (sorry, can't get my paragraphs to work on this new laptop)

YOUR Good Deed....
by compound complex inthank you for your help in my time of need.
i woke up thinking of a childhood television program - "father knows best.
" in the episode most memorable to me, the youngest child, kitten (kathy) was sitting on a park bench next to an old man, chirping away in her usual chatty, happy way.

I can't remember all of them, but 17 years ago, one of my girlfriends in school, brought me a bouquet of daffodils in art class just to be nice. We had been talking about flowers in class and I mentioned something about being happy to see them at the end of winter. It was so thoughtful, unexpected and amazing. Here was one of my worldly school friends, who I couldn't celebrate anything with, just doing something nice as a friend. It really helped me through a hard time in my life to have that act of kindness. I wish I knew where she was today. As a JW I never kept up with her after graduation, but that special gift helped me feel like I had worth. I was so sad at heart back then. She had no idea how much it meant.

Restrangled, I haven't had this breed, but when we moved down to Georgia (college town), nearly every college girl in our apartment building had a Shitzu (sp?) Our current landlord is in her 70's and has one too. A nice little lap dog, friendly, good with the kids and barks when I ring her doorbell to alert her and then quiet the rest of the time. She has everyone pet her, and the ones that we would see at the apartments were always quiet and friendly, letting the kids walk up and pet them. I really like them. Hope that helps. Oh, I'm not sure, but I am assuming they must be good company and okay on their own during the day, seeing it was always single college girls that seemed to get them when they left mama and daddy's house. (I thought it was sweet of their parents to provide a warm comforter for their girls!)

Is Swearing Allowed???
by mtsgrad inas a good witness i only swore once (aloud) in my 30 year theocratic career (at work).
have any members here started $&^%ing since leaving the borg?.
a fairly new publisher once said in a talk "when a householder tells you to f%$ off".

In my head, my swearing would make a sailor blush I don't know why I can't let it go, but I am a curse-aholic in my thoughts. Unfortunatly, I let a few 4 letter words, s### and da#n, slip in front of the kids, immediately followed by, "that's a bad word, mama shouldn't have said that". Nothing like hearing your 5 year old curse at a problem and know its your fault for giving him the idea.
For private entertainment, sometimes hubby and I will when the kids are in bed and we need to shock each other and get a kick out of it.
I guess I am a "closet" swearer. I try to never swear in front of anyone but myself. -

Caught Wife Cheating
by roflcopter inso i posted a while back about my marriage problems.... whole new gambit thrown into the mix.
i've had suspicions all along that something like this might be happening... but only just not confirmed that she's been cheating on me... with another jw that she works with!
she could have been more discreet about it rather than leave all the text messages on her phone.

I am so sad for you.
You are right about being glad there are no children involved!
I can only say that her repentance doesn't sound sincere if she won't meet your reasonable demands of changing jobs and avoiding her adultery partner. I feel she should be groveling at your feet begging for forgiveness for such a sin against your marriage, ready to do all she can to earn back your love and trust. But as another poster mentioned, only you know the surrounding circumstances and what is really going on. -

Who is your favorite animated cartoon character?
by gaiagirl inmy favorite would have to be marvin the martian (first appearance 1948).
everything about him cracks me up, from his roman gladiator helmet and kilt, to the way he walks and speaks ("that makes me angry, very angry indeed"), to the ultra cool devices he uses (suprisingly, from acme, who apparantly has outlets on mars).
a very close second, almost a tie, would have to go to droopy (first appearance 1943), who also walks and speaks in a humorous manner, and who has abilities far beyond what would be expected from his dimunitive size.

MJ: I think the one with tennis shoes was the red haired monster. With the huge part right down the center! I can't remember much about the character who said "....and call him George". Looney Toons were my life. I was lucky. Dad not a jw and every saturday morning spent watching all the old classics. I remember dad watching with us. Kitten Whiskers
